Ant Control

Carpenter-ant questions in an older building are about nesting and wood conditions, not just insect size.

A large ant does not locate a nest

Carpenter ants can forage from a nest outside a building as well as from one inside it. Finding a worker in a Worcester apartment does not establish which situation applies. The inspection needs the insect’s identity and the pattern of activity. A trail through one window and evidence beside damaged trim may deserve different attention even when the ants look similar.

Excavating wood is different from eating it

Carpenter ants create nesting spaces in wood; they do not use wood as food in the way termites do. Wood particles or an associated moisture problem can therefore become important parts of an investigation. Neither a damp sill nor a small pile of material should be treated as a complete diagnosis on its own. Accessible nest evidence, insect identification, and building condition need to be considered together.

Shared building connections affect the search

In a three-decker, the apparent route may cross a cellar, wall connection, or exterior feature beyond the reporting unit. The assessment should follow the evidence rather than stop at an apartment label. A proposed response should distinguish confirmed nesting activity, foraging routes, and any moisture or carpentry work that remains separate. Call Worcester Pest Control about the floor and window involved, the evidence found, and the common areas that connect with it.
